problem with alsa

sorry ,I  haven't had  a input mothed installed,I complier  alsa into kernel,and I run command list here:
# rc-update add alsasound boot
# gpasswd -a  myname audio
# /etc/init.d/alsasound start
all were ok,and then
# alsamixer
here's the problem
I can't unmute the PCM,and When I use madplay to play  music, It plays well,but no sound,I need help.thanks.

$uname -a
Linux gentoo 2.6.15-gentoo-r1 #3 SMP Fri Mar 3 09:19:20 CST 2006 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 1800+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux

I use this
$ mpg123 music/001.Hallelujah.MP3
Can't open /dev/dsp!

and
~ $ ls -l  /dev/dsp
crw-rw----  1 root audio 14, 3 Feb 14 08:03 /dev/dsp
