emerge's package's directory?

When I was in debian, I know most software, say xpdf install at /usr/share/xpdf, today I want to add xpdf's language patch, and I find the directory  /usr/share/ has nothing related to xpdf, so I don't know which directory does it install? Does it only install at /usr/bin/; /etc?

My English is poor, but I can't type chinese now, bless me ...  - -b

I don't want to install genutils.
I found that I dont know where openq I should install, because no the gaim directory, and after I installed openq, it doesn't work.
