31. on Fedora 7 finally I got functional 3D on my notebook with Xpress 200M.
    
32. Thanks a lot! Do you consider backporting these to F7 officially?
    
33. The only other thing I needed from rawhide was xorg-x11-proto-devel-7.2-12.
    
34. However, I occasionally see incorrectly set videomode, something like
    
35. bad frequency. I experienced the same sometimes with the old ati drv 6.6.0.
    
36. I saw an article on www.phoronix.com about "vbespy" - does it help if I send
    
37. videomodes/register dumps from my notebook?

I took and recompiled these packages in the following order:

http://mirrors.kernel.org/fedora ... .0.0-20.fc8.src.rpm
http://mirrors.kernel.org/fedora ... 6.193-2.fc8.src.rpm

The recompilation was simply done with "rpmbuild --rebuild <package>"
then installed the resulting packages. Switching to runlevel 3 and back to 5
restarted gdm and the X server, after restart the system came up
3D-accelerated.

Oh, and I use x86_64 F7 on this notebook.
