Nate On for Linux
Nate On is possibly the most popular instant messaging service in South Korea. According to Wikipedia, Total number of Nate On users overtook that of MSN Messenger in 2005 domestically. Nate On has around ten million users nowadays.
Once Nate On was constantly criticized for its lack of Linux and Mac support. SK Communications (service provider) originally developed Nate On client only for Windows. However, in response of non-windows users' continuous complaint, SK Comms recently released beta version of Nate On client for Mac OS X and Linux (not just for Linux, maybe it will work on other Unixes with X11).
The Mac version is nothing particular. It's just a Cocoa-based typical Mac application. but there are two wonderful things in the Linux version: 1. It's free software. (yes, it's GPL licensed), 2. Surprise, it's KDE based! |
