LFS 7.0 Release
Bruce Dubbs - 2011/10/29
The Linux From Scratch community is pleased to announce the stable elease of LFS Version 7.0. It includes numerous changes to LFS-6.8 (including updates to Linux-3.0.4, GCC-4.6.1, and Glibc-2.14.1).
A somewhat major change was made in this version of the book by adding a new top level directory, /run. This directory has a tmpfs mounted and is used by programs like udev to store run time information. The directories /var/run and /var/lock are also linked to this directory. The bootscripts have been updated to accomodate this change. The bootscripts have also been modified to place supporting scripts in /lib/boot.
Another significant change is the addition of an md5sums file allowing users to check the integrity of all downloaded packages. |
