装OPENQ在./configure时出现的诸多问题！

我的Linux版本是redhat9.0;我下载的是openq-0.3.2.tar.gz和gaim-1.5.0-0rh9.i386.rpm。在安装gaim软件包时出现过conflicts with file from package gaim-0.5.8，我就把redhat9自带的gaimt通过执行rpm -e gaim-0.5.8删除掉后，再把gaim-1.5.0安装到/opt/gaim150目录下就没出问题了。但在编译安装openq时，我尽管照着“北南南北”大侠的帖子执行了 export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/opt/gaim150/usr/lib/pkgconfig（我的gaim-1.5.0的lib目录是在/opt/gaim150/usr/ 下的），但无论如何怎么执行./configure 都会出现

checking for gaim... Package gaim was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `gaim.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable

求救各位大侠！这个问题我已经摆弄了好几天了，本想自己搜索本站后自己解决，可是一直未能成功。我到底是在哪个环节出错了呀？是不是我不应该下载安装gaim-1.5.0呀？这个高版本的软件包是否有特殊的要求？
