你用linux才多久。看你说的问题（不支持mp3）看来就没用多久，mp3是有版权的。你以为国外都像国内这样盗版到处飞阿。再说yum我认为apt-get,yum之类的恰好是未来软件的发展方向，大公司架设一台软件服务器，里面的软件可以免费下载，只是服务要收费。用不惯linux你就别用，发什么牢骚，你怎么不说win下的病毒把你给折腾坏了，win和linux各有弊端。关键看你怎么看了。希望楼主不要再发这样的帖子了。关键是中国人民被微软牵着鼻子走了太久了，微软技术更新太快，win98/2000/xp/vista.  mfc/.net framework,你根本跟不上它。而linux呢。等你用的时间久了。你就知道了。我现在在家里只用linux,在办公室除非工作用.net, vc6（领导要求），其他工作如处理图片，听歌，写自己的程序，全部在linux下面。

我想知道的是挂在iso镜像和挂在光驱里面的光盘为什么前者可以用add/remove software 后者则报unable to retrieving software information?

在单机系统的虚拟机下，如果你装的是Fedora Core 6， 不管是iso镜象还是直接使用光驱里的光盘，都是没法用add/remove software的，系统会提示unable to retrieving software information，原因可能是因为没有联网。而在RedHat Linux 9下就没有这种情况。目前我还不知道怎么去解决。我这边的情况是这样子的。如果你使用的是Fedora Core 6，在单机系统的虚拟机下可以add/remove software，还请告知是如何实现的。

这位大哥说的我就不乐意听了，我也不是不知道linux和window区别，转linux的时候我也有心里准备了，不然也不会说我发的牢骚群属废话了，yum是未来发展方向也好，至少我重装fc 5遍就是为了yum能用，就凭着我也没说linux不好，只是说实在的我看了很多贴都是关于yum安装不成功的，感觉很郁闷，这样也不行。。。你打这么多字还不如帮我解决问题，那样我会跟感激

谢谢回贴，关于在单机系统的虚拟机下可以add/remove software，我也是网上看贴才知道的，不过我用的是fc5 ，主要是/etc/yum.repos.d目录下的文件要都先移出去，我是直接备份了删除，然后里面只自己建立一个iso.repo文件(名字理应可以随便起，后缀.repo就不知道了，我没试过其他名字)，iso.repo文件内容如下
[iso]
name=local iso
baseurl=file:///mnt/fc5   
failovermethod=priority
enabled=1
gpgcheck=0
，最后3行可以不加，不过我也不懂有什么用，/mnt/fc5是我挂在iso的挂在点，这样，就可以用add/remove software了
关于挂在iso镜像我是建了个可以执行的文件(/mnt/mount_iso)里面就只有#mount -o loop /soft/FC-5-i386-DVD.iso /mnt/fc5   一句话，然后chmod a+x /mnt/mount_iso
每次启动都要挂一次

今晚测试了一下：安装RedHat，只需选择display size，就ok了。可是在安装Fedora Core 6时，先得在try to build the vmhgfs module for your system (need a c compiler),然后在what's the location of the directory of c header file这两处地方Enter，再选择display size，重启动后发现x-windows的配置已改，无法进去，得重新配，最终vmware tools安装失败。如果选择用tar命令来安装，会提示cannot open the file or directory。原因待查。
至于你上面的情况是怎么出现的，我也说不上来。建议你回来初始安装状态再试试看。

我在/etc/yum.conf 中配置了下代理端口什么的，现在可以连接到livna的yum源了，不过yum安装上还是有些生疏，还得继续做功课
