how to use chinput type chinese

i just resolved how to connect to internet. Now,i have question about how to type   chinese.
i typed #chinput ,the out put as below:
Chinput Version 3.0.2 -- XIM Server
Distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL)
/root/.pyinput/usrphrase.tab is not a valid pinyin phrase file.
Chinput ................................................[OK]
is it right?
then i Ctrl+space,want to change input method.but nothing happed.i still can not type  chinese.
i also tried "把下面这个目录
/usr/share/locale
中的
zh_CN这个文件夹改名为zh_CN.OLD".it still not work!!!!
pls help solve this problem.
by the way,i don't want change everything in Chinese(Han Hua System),just want to  enable typing in Chinese.
my system is Mabdrake 8.2.

It's really a bad input method. I recommend you to uninstall it and install xsim rpm package.

我是想先解决这个系统自带的chinput问题，在弄别的。我的系统是英文的，上网看中文没有问题，而且我的linux现在主要是用来编程。所以我不想汉化它，只想可以输入中文就好。不知道这样能不能行。希望各位指教。

去Mandrake区看看我的帖子，我想你装了xsim后，再把i18n文件弄成我那样就可以了。
