请问:如何在英文LINUX操作系统上安装中文LINUX版本

各位高手:
     本人是LINUX的菜菜鸟, 我男友家的电脑系统是LINUX KANOTUX 英文版, 现在问题有两个,一是我如何能在上面装中文版本,二是如何在英文版本中安装中文输入法.(因我男友是老外,他根本不需要没中文,但我需要!) 先谢了!

你不需要额外安装另一个Linux版本，因为大部分Linux都支持几乎所有的人类语言并且很容易切换。KANOTUX我没有用过，不过估计它也支持中文。方法是
1. 安装中文字体（详细操作见下）。
2. 登录的时候选择会话语言（详细操作见下）。
3. 安装中文输入法（详细操作见下）。

建议你安装Debian，然后安装中文字体（比如复制中文Windows下的simsun.ttf/simsun.ttc到Linux的/usr/share/fonts/truetype目录下）。然后在登录的时候选择英文或者中文（当然也可以选择韩文和日文等）就可以了。

中文输入法fcitx的安装方法在输入法版块的置顶贴里。

我的建议是
放弃吧，不要装了，宁可买新的，装个xp

可能楼主是笔误，把kanotix打成kanotux了？


kanotix是基于Debian-sid的发行版。在Debian中使用中文很方便。建议使用开源中文字体uming。
# apt-get install ttf-arphic-uming
然后配置下~/.fonts.conf就行了。附件中是我的配置文件，作为参考，应该可用。下载后执行以下命令：
$ cp fonts.conf.txt ~/.fonts.conf
然后重新登录就可以使用中文了。
至于gnome/kde桌面的语言，在使用登录管理器时有语言选项，修改为中文就可以了。
