freebsd快？简直胡说霸道。不要老抱着惟我独尊的态度去看linux，你凭什么说freebsd比linux快，你用过lunar吗，这个distro比gentoo还快呢。唉，很多人老是说freebsd这个好，那个好，曲高和寡的东西只不过是即将灭种的东西罢了！不信你们扪心自问，干活还是要用redhat吧（当然在加上debian）。

不知兄弟说得LUNAR是什么东东，介绍一下吧，别一来就说FREEBSD不好，你对FREEBSD了解多少？FREEBSD是经受过时间的考验的，偶在用，hoho!

lunar，是一个很新的linux distro，最新版本1.2。iso大小是120兆，完全满足那些喜欢make自己编译的fans。安装过程有一个统一的基本界面，是先自己添加modules，然后分区，加载分区，拷贝基本系统文件，然后定制内核优化部分（这可能是fans最关心的部分），接下来是重新编译内核（当然是最新的2.4.20版再加上lunar自己打得补丁），写lilo或grub，配置timezone，eth，hostname，最后就是reboot啦。lunar所有的软件包都是最新的，而且永远是最新的，因为他是从开发者的网站下载再来编译的，这点就像freebsd的port的概念，make过程中如果缺少dependence，就会再去下载和make那个依赖包。一句话，这个比gentoo有前途，因为它简化了安装过程，他的编译内核过程是我见过最好的，一气呵成，不用自己把make dep，make BZimage，make modules。。。，自己书写lilo和grub，自己运行lilo，重不出错。要说缺点，很新的linux distro，现在根本无document，全靠自己的修行。

Well, I had installed Gentoo as my first distribution awhile ago. It was a very difficult installation I remember. That may have been because it was my first linux install, but it was also long and tedious. My friend told me that if i wanted source based, Lunar was the way to go. So, I decided to check it out. The install was done within the hour, and it seemed to run a bit faster. Now, I wasn't really conviced one way or the other until this: I am a computer science major at UC Berkeley. I am taking a course on machine structures. Today, we had a lab that tested the performance of a machine's primary cpu cache. For fun, I tested it on both Gentoo and Lunar. In Gentoo, the cache hit averaged 16 nanoseconds which is about average. In Lunar however, the cache hits averaged at 8 nanoseconds!! Twice as fast! After that, I was sold and I will never use another distribution again.

FreeBSD的快，是经过我实践得出的结论。FreeBSD与Linux相比哪个好？这是一直以来争论的话题，而且至今仍未有什么结果。
Linux的确很不错。每样东西都有存在它的理由。目前在我的两个硬盘上同时存在以下几个系统：
RedHat Linux 8.0 Mandrake Linux 9.0 Gentoo Linux 1.4RC3 FreeBSD 4.8RC1 FreeBSD 5.0  SUSE Linux 8.1 Turbo Linux 8.0   Windows XP
至今我对Windows XP还有很强的依赖。以上的几个系统我最喜欢Gentoo及FreeBSD

下载地址http://lunar-linux.org，lunar还可以设置对gcc 2 或gcc 3编译的优化，对C 和C ++编译的优化，X86,ALAPH,solaris，powerpc的优化，优化速度包括5档，none，fast，faster，fastest和small，speedy速度优化包括speedy.risky,pointers.....的优化选项，还包括sse，sse2，3dnow等额外选项。。。。，真是太多了。

lunar中很重要的一条指令：lunar
模块和软件安装，解却包依赖问题，重新配置优化选项全在这里了，有一个统一conle下的界面，用起来很容易，就像freebsd下的sysinstall一样。
