=== Checking e159 through chipset providers and modem assemblers ====
Vendor=8086 is Intel, Inc. producing HaM and 536ep host controller free (HCF) modems, the 537 soft modem
and AC'97 and MC97 controllers managing a varierty of non-Intel soft modem subSystems. These subSystems
will in general not have Intel PCI_IDs.
Download drivers from: http://developer.intel.com/design/modems/support/drivers.htm
Also check at: http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/resources.html
for early releases and perhaps already compiled drivers.
Formal support for Intel 537 chipset soft modems
is expected by the Fall of 2003, available then at
http://developer.intel.com/desig ... t/drivers_linux.htm
and perhaps a bit earlier in the Intel section of:
http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/resources.html
The Intel 537 chipsets are sold to a variety of modem assemblers
that specify there own PCI_IDs.
Some are supported by SmartLink drivers.
END

if [ "e159" = "1813" ] ; then
cat<<END>>/tmp/modem/ModemData.txt
Vendor=1813 Ambient Tech was acquired by Intel with its HaM (Host assisted Modem) chipsets.
With exception of those with PCI_ID 1813:4100 modems, see message:
http://linmodems.org/cgi-bin/ezm ... bhcoigfcimgkjdedjad
all the HaM modems have been supported.
HOWEVER, further maintainence is being discontinued, in favor of the newer Intel 536ep and 537 soft modems.
Thus HaM failures can be expected for the emerging 2.6.nn kernels,
and perhaps soon after 2.4.21 because of changes in the serial interface.
The soft modem Subsystem: 8086:0003
serving under the controller:
PCI_ID=e159:0001, Communication controller: Tiger Jet Network Inc. Intel 537
may be supported by the SmartLink slmdm-2.7.10 drivers.
For versions after 2.7.10 the drivers may load, but there will be a failure to dial correctly!!
See the related supoort table listing in /tmp/modem/ModemData.txt.2
Vendor 163c is SmartLink, http://www.smlink.com/ with EXCELLENT Linux support!
Downloads from ftp://ftp.smlink.com/linux/unsupported/ with some backups at:
