有一点进展。我在fstab里注释掉我的移动硬盘的分区（比如/dev/usbhd1）后，在root下可以用gnome-mount -tvd /dev/usbhd1挂载那个分区。在普通用户下还是不可以挂载，说是permission denied, 要去看hal或者message bus的policy. 还在看相关的文档。

Problem solved. It was due to d-bus policy settings. I edited /etc/dbus-1/system.d/hal.conf based on DBUS documentation and added a policy to allow group "users" (my account is under this group) to access HAL Volume objects (something like that), and after that automouting is working now.
