localedef -i zh_CN -f GB18030 zh_CN.GB18030
localedef -i zh_CN -f GBK zh_CN.GBK
localedef -i zh_CN -f GB2312 zh_CN.GB2312
localedef -i zh_CN -f UTF-8 zh_CN.UTF-8

最后设置中文的默认编码,比如设为GB18030
localedef -i zh_CN -f GB18030 zh_CN

使用6.1.1.3version liveCD,如何設定adsl連線,net-setup後,無法輸入username ,僅能輸入password,enter後, 在root#pppoe則出現亂碼無法連線,不知那位大大可以指教.謝謝!

6.1.1.3version中好象只有德文的LOCALE吧。中文配置好象没有的说。

两个选择：
1。第六章安装glibc的时候，最后那里安装所有locale，就是 make localedata/install-locales 。
2。运行以下命令。
localedef -i zh_CN -f GB18030 zh_CN &
localedef -i zh_CN -f GBK zh_CN &
localedef -i zh_CN -f GB2312 zh_CN &
localedef -i zh_CN -f UTF-8 zh_CN &
localedef -i en_US -f UTF-8 en_US &
这样中文的支持就差不多足够了。

哪里还能设置默认的？。。。基本就是 LC_* 和LANG/LANGUAGE 这几个环境变量控制的。。

first of all,I appreciate all of you that give me so much courage and on going supporting in this forum.though  the first glimpse of LFS created my passion of this OS, as whim of holding my own OS by which i can tour and exploreing linux worlds. i setup a raw linux os according to the instructions of this lfs book,so far there has a further distance to go to show my ideal LFS.but i shall try my best to make it becoming perfect .moreover,someday i could  abandon my windows os completely.just with LFS&BSD .but frankly speaking against BSD's cutting edge,LFS,BLFS,even ALFS........i wish they can represent their more best work.considering benefit of study of unix world ,i am satisfied with this .
        as for locale, last time i installed all of locales .after viewing some documents ,now i can manipulate our chinese locale.no matter how,i'd like to make my applause for my supporter.
         nowadays ,a boring question of Xorg of X has emerged  presence. i dislike install all of Xorg with X. i just want to install some essential or necessary server components with wich my xfce can  running rightly.at the same time, i think the xorg's CVS tree should be categoried aganist other clients programs,so as to clearly and minimize install oneself's X window.the same question is as my BSD.if somebody has experienced or encountering now.and have some good ideal.if would like to share with me.pls give me a show.ok, anybody?

ALFS is a software for building LFS without any user interatction requirement and is not recommended to newbies. It is not what they need after all. BSDs is nice but it is another system and does not have the flexibility which Linux has. BSDs are good for servers.

With XOrg 7.0, your requirement can be satisfied.  But you need some techniques to compile it. I haven't figure it out yet. It would be nice to know the right way to do it.

Yeah .Linux from scratch is worth doing to me as you mentioned above.so ,for the time being. there are three OSes in my laptop. before contacting LFS ,i have been using the freeBSD for two years ,i like it's method of updating with ports by CVSup , by wich now   i can use the up to date freeBSD6 version.all of these processes from core to all kinds of ports is as comparative easy as you can imagining.of course the simplest way of installing OS is to use windows.but between UNIX-like and windows,to user they displaied two completely difference. as for LFS,i am concern is it's updating matters along with it's X window.

FreeBSD is a nice OS. I have it on my laptop for trial purpose.
The port system is very convenient in managing different packages in the system. WIndows is not as good as this in some aspect.

LFS mainly teaches you how to compile a system. That's what LFS for.
Try to solve the problem yourself. If not, wait for a solution. .

LFS is very teadeous sometimes as you have to do everything manually.
