i'm a newbie in using suse9.2.I have many questions about it.
for the firse time i ask you two :
1.why i can't use "poweroff" shut down my compute?(under the "root")
2.i test:
hdparm -tT /dev/hda

/dev/hda:
Timing cached reads:   416 MB in  2.01 seconds = 206.89 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads:   70 MB in  3.09 seconds =  22.67 MB/sec
but when i install my suse9.2,the speed was 600MB/sec. Why??

如果poweroff不行。直接shutdown -h now. poweroff 应该是halt命令的一个symbolic link.
关于硬盘的速度测试，这个值差别很大， 系统开启的各种服务，任务，测试时是否有其他程序读写硬盘等等都将影响这个值。最重要的是有没有打开DMA和multihead读写。你可以hdparm -Ii /dev/hda来查看硬盘数据。hdparm -c /dev/hda查看是否开启DMA, hdparm -m /dev/hda查看是否开启multihead...看看manpage吧。 很有用的。
