I have setup NIS server and client, but got error message while login on client side. Here is what I have done. Please check if I miss anything.
On server side
1. setup domainname
2. edit /etc/nsswitch.conf to add nis
3. edit /etc/yp.conf to point to server itself (not sure if this step is necessary)
4. service ypserv start
5. /usr/lib/yp/ypinit -m
6. service ypbind start
7. service yppasswdd start
8. yppasswd user1 (I already have user1 as a system user on server side)
On client side
1. setup domainname
2. edit /etc/nsswitch.conf to add nis
3. edit /etc/yp.conf to point to server
4. service ypbind start
Then I login to client machine as user1, I can log in, but always got those messages upon login:
Can't find directory /home/user1
Unalbe to creat ~/.bash_profile, ~/.bash_logout : Permission denied.
Do I need to create or mount /home/user1 directory on the client side?
Many many thanks......
You need to combine nfs and autofs... There are some threads here... |
