vmware4要在2.6下运行，需要下载补丁包，到google上面搜索应该可以找到，要不留个email，给你发过去！

I also encountered this problem.
Solution: You should configure your kernel first. Run `make config/menuconfig/...' to configure kernel. Then, you may run your vmware.I guess you should have the kernel source with the exactly same version as your running kernel. If this still doesn't work, you may need , but i'm not sure, to make a symbol link include/asm to include/asm-i386.
