postgresql安装后老启动不了，各位大侠帮帮忙

为什么我用/usr/local/pgsql/bin/pg_ctl -D /usr/local/pgsql/data -l logfile start可以成功启动，而用/usr/local/pgsql/bin/postmaster -D /usr/local/pgsql/data >logfile 2>&1 &却提示logfile: No such file or directory呢
执行[postgres@localhost pgsql]$ /usr/local/pgsql/bin/createdb test
createdb: could not connect to database template1: could not connect to server: No such file or directory
Is the server running locally and accepting
connections on Unix domain socket "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432"?

这是什么回事啊，高手们帮帮忙啊
