Due to time constraints, we have decided to make a slight alteration in the release process. We (releng) build testing images and publish them on the build server. Releng does only minimal testing; we will rely on the community to try them out and report back to us. Bugs should go to the bug tracker under the release engineering project. Once there is enough feedback, and there are no relevant known bugs any more, then we can do a new official release.

看了镜像了，什么意思，和archboot一下，现在开始有一个版本把32位和64位放在一张光盘里了？
就是那个dual结尾的，如果我没有猜错的话。
有谁确认一下。

如果是刻盘安装，应该差不多，但是archboot有一个好处就是可以U盘安装，当然，我指的不是Live USB的方式，但是如果换成arch，那将是很麻烦的事。

只要能支持硬件安装就够了
上周末给一台4核的AMD 630 CPU的机子安系统
下的是2009.08 网络安装版
本想用他的 /arch/setup 安装的，结果还是自己手工编辑 /tmp/pacman.conf 指向旁边的笔记本仓库安装还方便些，再把sshd打开，直接在本本上操作

接下来就是 10MB/s的速度传文件安装，很快就把桌面给安好了，ARCH建本地仓库实在太方便了，按WIKI的方式几下就搞定了

懒得刻盘，直接用grub4dos 启动那个iso，方法也是按wiki来的，为了偷懒，直接把那iso改短，放在C盘的NTFS分区下面

总结了一下，只要那个 iso 能顺利启动，能让网络正常工作，能分区，再配上个pacman，基本上就OK了，随便找个gentoo盘，把 pacman.static 拷下来用就是了，不过遗憾的是，旧版本的pacman.static 不支持 xxx.pkg.tar.xz 格式， 实在不行的话，就archiso, http://build.archlinux.org/isos/ ， archlive 等这些新的iso来摆平

恰恰相反， debian / ubuntu 都不会悲剧，至少在我手中是如此。

而 arch 只要过几个月不更新的，基本就很难再更新了，经常出一大堆依赖性错误。我常使用的机器比较多，debian/ubuntu很久不更新再去用都可以继续更新，而 arch 基本上如果每周都保持更新必定没问题，稍微慢一点，就可能更新不上了。

deiban 以前试过很老的版本升级正常
以前帮朋友的机子升级ubuntu 类似 8.04 -> 8.10这种升级，结果升级后问题多多，后来直接给他安了个gentoo

arch 一般大升级后得注意  xxx.pacmnew  xxx.pacsave
的确遇到像一大堆依赖的问题，需要手工去删掉再安新软件，不过对ARCH老手一般不是啥问题
