my arch can't start x

i have installed xfce4 and kde4,but can't start them.
only if i delete /etc/X11/xorg.conf can start xfce4,

thousands reasons can lead to that problem.
you should give more details.
for example,what error occured after you do startx.
paste the output of your screen here.

u can try hwd
#pacman -S hwd
then,
#hwd -s
#startx

先用xorgconfig来配置xorg。当然也可以用hwd来生成配置文件，但个人而言还是推荐xorgconfig.

编辑~/.xinitrc文件，在里面加入你要启动的桌面环境（如果是KDE，就加入startkde；如果是GNOME，就加入gnome-session）

startxfce4
直接用kdm ，如果你装了kde，或gdm ，他们都自动的加入你安装的任何x windows
修改inittab runlevel 5 ，最后一行， xdm 改为 gdm or kdm 他们的路径都是opt /kde/bin
opt/gnome/bin
pacman －S hwd
hwd －s 后，还要改一下、/etc/X11/xorg.conf.hdw 为xorg.conf

关键不是你能做什么不能做什么，而是你不能做一件事儿的时候发生了什么……要不大家都只是猜这猜那，只能干着急，怎么帮忙呀。

我也是新手呢。
主要是，你startx以后，EE开头的行有哪些，或者你把看到的很明显的出错信息说说就可以了。

一个多月前我还不会看x的log，都是看屏幕上的输出，抄到本子上然后重启到windows下再敲出来到论坛上问。想想那时候，有时出错信息满屏都是，抄得那叫一个坚苦啊……
