Not fully correct.
Current has only those packages that are (or will be) included in
Install CD (this is the _only_ one difference from Extra).
Extra has all other official packages.
Unstable contains development (alpha/beta) versions of some packages.
Notethat many such packages are in AUR, but pkgs in Unstable are
maintained by devs and not TUs.
Testing is for those packages that will be in Current/Extra soon, but
currently [may] broke things (probably rebuild of some packages
needed) - most often they are initscripts/mkinit*/udev, hal/dbus,
kernel, drivers, Xorg, GTK, GNOME etc. |
