刚发现opensuse 11.2还提供优化过的快速desktop kernel

大概意思是desktop内核更快，更小，适合桌面运用。

I'd say it is improved in many ways for desktop users/desktop use, yes.

It will depend on the media source:

- If installing from LiveCD by default will install "kernel-desktop" flavor

- If installing from DVD, dunno, maybe it makes some "magic" to detect the
user system and then selects one or another. Maybe based on the selected
patterns (server -> "kernel-default" / desktop -> "kernel-desktop").

- If updating from any previous installed system... also dunno, sorry :-P

Yes, as always has been possible to install many different kernels and
booting easily from any of them.

It should "live" in factory repositories (/oss) and the usual "kernel of the
day" repos (KOTD).

刚才通过yast安装了，感觉启动速度更快了。其他方面还在体验。 大家可以试试。

前几天用zypper dup 更新，自动更新为desktop kernel了

看了一下，装的就已经是desktop的了，已经很快了，桌面应用的反应速度比gnome快了一个量级，是人可以识别的那种差异。

我从live gnome cd安装时kernel-default.

我的确在yast看到有这个desktop，没有认为有多大的区别，心里还在想会不会导致一些服务不能运行，就没有去安装。

大家真的觉得速度有优势吗？

刚看了，啧啧，11.2官方源最新才2.6.31。11.1完全都是私人源，已经2.6.33了，就看敢不敢用了。

已经在用了，这个主要看你的CPU，早期的电脑装不上这个优化版内核。
